What We Learned from 4 of Our Favorite Heroines.

Some characters just never leave us. Be it a movie, or a book; when you see yourself in a character — or something that you'd like to acquire, that character never leaves your mind.

Many female role-model-material characters are subjected to severe criticism and conjecture. Because people still believe this is a man's world. Not these four. They have a little something for everyone.

1. Jennifer Lawrence as Katniss Everdeen

What we learned from Katniss Everdeen is: we must never allow our oppressors to weaken our resolve in any way. Set in a futuristic, dystopian world, The Hunger Games will forever be our favorite. More so because of Jennifer as the protagonist. She personifies Collins' don't-mess-with-me heroine perfectly. Defying the corrupt, fighting for herself, for family and friends makes her an ideal leader. Even though she refuses being the leader type most of the time in the series and the movie, her steely determination betrays her and she ends up filling the role anyway. For, what is a leader if not someone you want to follow?

2. Shailene Woodley as Beatrice Prior.

Protagonist of The Divergent Series, Beatrice Prior — later known as Tris — taught us that we should pursue all that we want, all that we need, all that we are. It was a bold and treasonous move, to let the trickle of her blood fall into Dauntless; but, she did it anyway. For she was dauntless. And became even more so. She made her way through the selection, won love, rescued many from a horrendous fate, and secured immortality, dying as a martyr in the end of the last installment: Allegiant.

Is it a blond thing? Maybe. Or rather, Veronica Roth knew exactly what she was doing.

3. Emma Watson as Hermione Granger.

Bookworm and pretty, what we learned from Hermione was that a little bit of rebellion doesn't hurt, along with being perfect. She ventures out with Harry Potter, Daniel Radcliffe; and Ron, Rupert Grint, into a world of adventure — despite her sticking-by-the-rules nature. If you combine imagination and adventure, you're destined for greatness. Why stick to the rules? When they're meant to be broken? Why sit still, look pretty? When you can take over the planet?

4. Kristen Stewart as Bella Swan.

Twilight heroine, Kristen Stewart, had not much to teach. The Twilight Saga had nothing more than just teen romance with vampires in the midst. Later, werewolves and whatnot. But, we still like Kristen, don't we? What Meyer had in mind, and what she wrote, was a strong and confident woman. A risk taker. All Bella Swan did apart from this was fall in love, cause trouble in the vampire world and then become one herself. Nothing much to learn. Perhaps this: there's more to life than kissing and boys.

Don't just watch these famous movies because everybody is doing it; learn from them, from the characters and the plots.
