The Swine Flu.

The H1N1 Influenza, or the Swine Flu, is on the loose in Karachi.

This evolved and more dangerous strain of the normal Influenza has been on the rise and is causing deaths almost daily. I read today's newspaper and learned that five died of this ailment. Because of the increasing number of deaths, the conscience of the government has been revived and special instructions have been imparted to doctors and health departments. They are still to properly equip themselves against this viral outbreak and ensure that vaccines are available to all.

Research says that the symptoms of this flu are quite synonymous to those of the usual influenza. The common ones are high fever, coughing, a runny or stuffy nose, diarrhea, frequent vomiting, fatigue, and pain; specially in the chest region and abdomen.

This affliction is fatal, but people with strong immune systems can fight it off with rest, over-the-counter pain medication, and fluid consumption. The unhealthy, however, need to be cautious. Antiviral medication against this strain is highly effective. Though I still don't get it why doctors aren't prescribing such medicine and can't seem to get the increasing death toll under control. Some are even saying that the vaccination prevailing is incapable of ridding us from the strain.

This flu spreads fast. Usually by inhalation, touch, and by contact with the infected themselves. Basic preventive measures available on the internet are frequent washing of the hands with sanitizers, avoiding touching the eyes and nose, using tissues to sneeze, and avoiding travel in crowded public vehicles.

Don't succumb to this viral strain.

Stay safe and spread the word!
