Karachi Electric Helplines.

Some people never keep the promises they keep. The same can be said for the attendants who pick up inquiry and complaint calls, representing K.E.
The frivolity with which the attendants dismiss complaining citizens, makes one ponder over the effectiveness of such helplines and the necessity of such attendants. These representatives believe that their jobs are a game, and the upset citizens that call are toys to be played with. They are known to initiate personal dialogue with the callers—specifically, the female callers—deviating from their responsibilities of keeping the public abreast of the technical issues resulting in power outages and breakdowns. Instead, they waste the time of desperate callers, wanting to file complains or inquire about the outages in their area.
What is even more disturbing is the racism some of the attendants exhibit, when they blatantly refuse to help callers, that they determine by their dialect of Urdu, who don't belong to their own particular cast. Sindhi's don't entertain the Urdu speaking, for instance. Even if the others are above such practices, they still ask you about your linguistic standing and then adjust the quality of their services accordingly.
Many of these attendants have no education at all, but have been hired to torment the public with their illiteracy, by their incapability of understanding what the callers are trying to tell and by not being able to relay correct information.
We can determine by their unprofessional behavior how much our government needs to invest in educational sectors, and how much of the need of unbiased hiring procedures there lies.
